BlueGreen Alliance Urges Pres. to Adopt Strong Job-Creating Clean Energy Plan

Today labor and environmental leaders from the BlueGreen Alliance—a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations—held a press tele-conference to outline their plan for creating and maintaining millions of jobs and ensuring America’s leadership in the global 21st century economy. The press tele-conference call comes just one day before President Obama delivers his agenda in a joint session of Congress.

United Steelworkers International President Leo W. Gerard and Sierra Club Chairman Carl Pope joined BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster for a discussion on Jobs21!—the labor-environmental partnership’s blueprint to solve the jobs crisis—and to urge the President and congressional leaders to adopt the plan as a strategy for putting America back to work. Speakers also addressed the critical need to revitalize the manufacturing sector, infrastructure investments and the critical job-creating potential of environmental standards.
