Good Jobs, Clean Environment, Green Economy

Natural Resources Defense Council/NRDC Action Fund

"We have joined this effort because we know that what is good for the environment is good for the economy, and vice versa. We can transform and renew our economy with practical solutions to global warming and building a clean energy economy. This unique partnership demonstrates that we can work together to make the green economy a reality."

                                                — Frances Beinecke, President, Natural Resources Defense Council

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization, using law, science and the support of 1.3 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. The NRDC Action Fund is NRDC's 501(c)(4) affiliate.

With the support of our members and online activists, NRDC works to solve the most pressing environmental issues we face today: curbing global warming and creating the clean energy future, reviving the world's oceans, defending endangered wildlife and wild places, protecting our health by preventing pollution, ensuring safe and sufficient water, and fostering sustainable communities.

NRDC joined the BlueGreen Alliance in October of 2008. NRDC is on the frontlines of the fight to protect America’s environment and communities, and works with the BlueGreen Alliance to find solutions for environmental problems — such as climate change, the environmental hazards of toxic chemicals, and the preservation of a safe and sustainable food system — that will also provide job creating opportunities for U.S. workers.

In addition, the NRDC has joined with the United Auto Workers and the Union of Concerned Scientists — both partners in the BlueGreen Alliance — to advocate for strong vehicle emissions standards that will create jobs and improve American competitiveness in the 21st century economy.
