BlueGreen Alliance

Good Jobs, Clean Environment, Green Economy

Union of Concerned Scientists

"The interests of union members and scientists merge when good jobs build a cleaner, more resilient economy, and we are thrilled to be a part of this unique alliance. UCS has long recognized that the transition to a clean energy economy will create quality jobs and put Americans back to work. "

Kevin Knobloch, President, Union of Concerned Scientists

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is the leading science-based nonprofit working for a healthy environment and safer world. UCS combines independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and consumer choices.

What began as collaboration between students and faculty members at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969 is now an alliance of more than 250,000 citizens and scientists. UCS members are people from all walks of life: parents and businesspeople, biologists and physicists, teachers and students.

UCS joined the BlueGreen Alliance in September of 2010, and works to find job-creating solutions to issues including Climate Change and to promote efforts to build cleaner Fuel Efficient Vehicles.
