BlueGreen Alliance Statement on the State of the Union

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (January 24, 2012) Following President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from former Minnesota Senate Assistant Majority Leader and BlueGreen Alliance Jobs21! National Co-Chair Tarryl Clark:

“Tonight, President Obama laid out an agenda for investing in manufacturing, transportation and clean energy, and an agenda that will push the limits of American innovation and spur the creation of good jobs across the nation.

“We must move forward to promote renewable energy, manufacturing, energy efficiency, smart grid, recycling, broadband Internet, and transportation. These are the industries of the 21st century and they are the industries that can garner us good jobs.

“We’ve already come so far, with the Recovery Act, measures that will increase the efficiency of our cars and trucks, and other investments and strategies, but we must do more. Congress must take action to bolster our clean energy economy and allow us to compete and win the jobs of the 21st century against China, Europe and the rest of the world.

“Tonight we heard a vision for a better America. It is the hope of the BlueGreen Alliance that we take action now to harness the potential of our nation, push the bounds of innovation, and create good jobs that are good for our environment here in Minnesota and throughout the rest of the country.”
