Suzanne Caflisch serves as the State Policy Advisor – Industrial Transformation at the BlueGreen Alliance, where she helps design, coordinate, and implement policies related to decarbonizing industry, ensuring high road jobs for industrial workers, and reducing environmental burdens on frontline communities.

Suzanne joined BGA in February 2022. Prior to this, she worked as a consultant for the organization Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO). There she supported participatory research on policies promoting economic inclusion of workers in the informal waste picking sector, while also ensuring environmentally responsible waste management in urban areas.

Suzanne holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA. Her capstone thesis focused on coalition-building among social movements of organized waste pickers and environmentalists in Brazil. This research prompted a strong interest in the intersection of environmental policy and workers’ livelihoods.

Suzanne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
