At least 21,000 jobs will be created by 2030 in Ohio as a direct result of vehicle fuel economy standards proposed by the Obama administration, according to a new study released by the BlueGreen Alliance.

The BlueGreen Alliance research report Gearing Up estimates that new fuel efficiency standards will create approximately 21,000 new jobs by 2030.

Local labor and environmental leaders gathered today at Duluth’s Bayfront Park to hold a press conference to call on Congressmen Chip Cravaack (R-MN) and Sean Duffy (R-WI) to support an immediate extension of the Production Tax Credit.

The White House finalized cleaner car standards that will increase fuel efficiency to the equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by 2025. The BlueGreen Alliance’s Executive Director David Foster released a statement lauding the standards.
