WASHINGTON, DC (December 27, 2012) BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster today released the following statement after the announcement that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson plans to step down early next year.

“During her time at EPA, Administrator Jackson has always been a willing and sincere partner and a tireless advocate for a better, cleaner environment for everyone. Under her leadership, she has championed environmental justice, cleaner air and water, safer chemicals and raised awareness about the effects of climate change.

“Her steadfast leadership elevated vitally important issues like climate change by issuing the proposed Carbon Pollution Standard, limiting the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from future power plants. She was key in negotiating the highest vehicle fuel economy standards in a generation. Administrator Jackson made reforming the Toxics Substances Control Act a priority, recognizing the link between safer chemicals and less asthma and cancer. With gratitude and congratulations for her work toward a cleaner and healthier environment and greener economy, we wish her the best for her next endeavor.”
