Daneya Esgar is the founder of Esgar and Associates, LLC, specializing in policy and political consulting. She is a former Pueblo County Commissioner, and a former Colorado State legislator. During her eight years in the state legislature, Daneya experienced success passing bills on a wide range of subjects from health care reform, protecting LGBTQ+ rights, worker rights, to agriculture and water rights. During her four terms, she served as House Majority Leader, a member of the Executive Committee of the Legislative Council, the Chair of the Joint Budget Committee, and Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Committee.

Born and raised in Pueblo, which is fondly known by many as Union Town, Esgar is the proud granddaughter of steelworkers, a product of Pueblo public schools, and a graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo with a BA in Mass Communications. She has worked as a television news producer, in higher education, and as a statewide community organizer, cutting her teeth in blue/green work as lead organizer at the Colorado Progressive Coalition, focusing on poverty and communities of color. She’s known as a fierce champion for good, on the side of labor, the environment, her community, and reproductive rights for all. She has even sponsored (and passed) multiple BGA priority bills.

Daneya lives with her wife Heather, their daughter Marlo, son Amias, and their two dogs, Bella and Huck, in Pueblo.
