The Trump administration issued on Friday, August 22nd a stop work order to Ørsted for their Revolution Wind project off the coast of Rhode Island. 

The offshore wind farm—which has been in the works for almost a decade and is fully permitted—was nearly complete and projected to generate enough energy to power 350,000 homes.  

Ørsted has reportedly invested $1 billion into the Revolution Wind project so far. 

Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance issued a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh: 

“Our support goes out to the Revolution Wind engineers, mechanics, electricians, and other workers who will bear the brunt of Trump’s senseless attacks on offshore wind. Trump continues to show that he not only hates clean energy for our communities, but that he also doesn’t care about the workers powering our country. We’re in dark times.”
