WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 11, 2011) After the Senate tonight failed to invoke cloture on the American Jobs Act, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director David Foster:

“The American Jobs Act is a necessary step to boost our short-term economy and put people to work. The infrastructure investments in this legislation will make our highway systems more efficient, provide more transit options, and improve America’s rail network. In addition, this legislation would modernize and renovate our nation’s public schools, with a focus on energy efficiency, which will create jobs while saving money down the line.

“It’s disappointing that the Senate failed to bring the American Jobs Act to a vote at a time when so many Americans are unemployed, and when many more are worried that their job might be next on the chopping block. The Senate should get to work immediately to pass the American Jobs Act and demonstrate to Americans that Washington is indeed committed to solving this nation’s jobs crisis.”
