Congress: Take Long Overdue Action on Expiring Clean Energy Investment
The President spoke to the need of taking action on critical job creation measures and urged Congress to act on overdue policies. This "To Do List" will create jobs and help restore middle class security.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 4, 2012) Today, President Obama speaking in Albany, New York at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering’s (CNSE) NanoTech Complex, urged Congress to prioritize a ‘To Do’ list of items that would boost job creation across the country including in the clean energy sector. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster:
“The President, today, spoke to the need of taking action on critical job creation measures and urged Congress to act on overdue policies. We are pleased that the President included the need for reinvestments in the Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit which is critical to the wind, solar, and other renewable industries. The President today also called for reinvestments to the Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit, 48C which is essential to increase U.S. clean manufacturing capacity. This isn’t just a ‘To Do List’ that will create jobs and help restore middle class security the President endorses; it’s one that businesses and people across America are calling for action on also.
“Extending the Production Tax Credit through 2016 would increase total wind-supported jobs to 95,000, with total wind investment growing to $16.3 billion and a $5 billion investment in Section 48C could create as many as tens of thousands more jobs in manufacturing. Congress’s top priority should be Americas’ top priority which is jobs.”
