BlueGreen Alliance Applauds Committee Action on RECLAIM Act
The House Natural Resource Committee met this afternoon to markup—and subsequently pass out of committee—the RECLAIM Act. The bill commits existing funds to clean up abandoned coal mines and spur economic development and diversification in impacted communities.
The BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Interim Co-Executive Director Mike Williams:
“As our nation moves toward a clean energy future, it is critical that no worker or community gets left behind. The RECLAIM Act will give impacted communities the tools needed to create good jobs reclaiming abandoned mine land, while generating lasting economic opportunity. Today’s action is a step in the right direction and we hope to see this momentum continue.
“We are pleased to see movement on this important bill and urge quick passage through Congress.”
