Labor, Environmental Organization Backs Future Energy Job Bill Passage
Illinois Regional Program Manager Dick Breckenridge calls for the state's General Assembly to pass the Future Energy Jobs Bill to ensure that Illinois keeps pace with other states in the Midwest who are leading the charge to a cleaner energy future for the region.
CHICAGO (November 29, 2016) – The BlueGreen Alliance today announced their support of and urged passage of the Future Energy Job Bill currently being deliberated by the Illinois General Assembly during its veto session. The BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Illinois Regional Program Manager Dick Breckenridge:
“The Future Energy Job Bill is the result of cooperation and compromise and, as a whole, it moves the state forward in terms of clean energy and energy efficiency, while protecting the jobs of many workers in the state. The much-needed fix to the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, combined with expanding energy efficiency standards and $750 million in investments in low-income communities, will drive the growth of quality jobs in the state for years to come.
“The General Assembly should pass this bill and Gov. Rauner should sign it to ensure that Illinois keeps pace with other states in the Midwest who are leading the charge to a cleaner energy future for the region.”
