US Officially Withdraws from the Paris Climate Agreement, Again

January 27, 2026

Today marks the United States’ official withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement for the second time.

President Donald Trump announced that he would remove the country from the agreement on his first day in office, and U.S. participation officially ended on January 27, 2026.

This follows numerous retreats from climate actions during Trump’s first year of his second term and blatant denial of widely accepted climate science.

Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Vice President of Federal Affairs Katie Harris:

“Trump is making unilateral decisions to remove the United States from any meaningful global climate action. His personal vendetta against clean energy and climate action will hurt workers and our environment.”
