EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
Joining the organization in 2008 as founding Communications Director, Connonlly launched organizational efforts in earned, paid and social media and online communications in pursuit of federal and state policy and legislative solutions on climate change, clean energy, energy efficiency, infrastructure, and safe chemicals. She has also served as the Vice President of Strategic Communications and Outreach for the organization.
In addition, Kelly spearheaded early earned and social media efforts for the organization’s Good Jobs, Green Jobs National Conference and it’s work at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, including efforts at the annual Conference of Parties in Poznan, Poland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Cancun, Mexico; Durban, South Africa; and Warsaw, Poland.
In 2012, Kelly was the Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications and Research for Minnesotans United for All Families, the first-ever campaign to defeat a state constitutional amendment to ban marriage for same-sex couples. She managed research and message development for the campaign, as well as a $6 million broadcast media campaign, and oversaw a communications staff of five and the launch of a statewide earned and social media plan.
Prior to joining the BlueGreen Alliance, Kelly served as Communications Director for the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), ran statewide communications for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)—where she managed contract campaigns to gain affordable health insurance for area janitors, and was the Press Secretary for Washington, D.C.-based Families USA, a national healthcare organization dedicated to achieving high quality, affordable healthcare for all.
