As Congress Debates Surface Transportation Investments, BlueGreen Alliance Releases Updated 2026 Transit Supply Chain Map
As Congress continues to debate a Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill, the BlueGreen Alliance today launched an updated interactive map highlighting the domestic transit supply chain.
The map identifies nearly 3,000 facilities that are manufacturing components for the bus and transit rail sector and provides information on the products manufactured at each facility. This includes facilities that produce materials, parts, and components for buses, passenger rail vehicles, and transit infrastructure, as well as those involved in final vehicle assembly.
“Communities across the country have a stake in the transit supply chain, making growth of domestic transit manufacturing critical,” said BlueGreen Alliance Vice President of Research Roxanne Johnson. “The updated tool highlights the opportunities for the Surface Transportation Reauthorization to further both investments and policies that support domestic manufacturing and good-paying jobs here in the United States.”
The map includes powerful geographic details—including congressional districts—as well as proximity to coal closure communities, disadvantaged communities, and deindustrialized communities.
The map includes 1509 facilities in the bus sector, 1603 facilities in the rail sector, and 200 facilities that operate across both sectors. The data has been updated from previously collected transit supply chain data and incorporates both updated information for existing facilities and identifies additional facilities not previously collected.
“This data underscores how important our transit industry is to manufacturing workers coast to coast,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “It also highlights the opportunity to grow our domestic supply chain so we can create more good manufacturing jobs for the communities that need them most. Investing in transit and rail using domestic components is an investment in jobs across the country.”
