Talk is Cheap, but Energy Isn’t Thanks to Donald Trump’s Policies

December 9, 2025

President Donald Trump will deliver remarks on affordability at a rally in Pennsylvania this evening Tuesday, December 9.

He is expected to boast about driving down inflation and cutting taxes. However, most Americans are feeling the economic strain of rising utility costs and grocery prices.

Trump recently called affordability a “democratic hoax,” even though residential electricity prices have gone up 13% this year and could rise by 18% in 2026 according to his own administration.

Prior to the president’s remarks, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Vice President of Federal Affairs Katie Harris:

“Donald Trump wants to gaslight you into believing prices aren’t that bad, but we can all feel the reality. Utility costs are too high for working families, and they are feeling the burden, especially during an expensive holiday season. Costs will only get worse if Trump and Republicans continue to attack clean energy projects and rollback federal investments. More demand without more energy supply means higher prices for us all. Talk is cheap, but energy prices aren’t thanks to Donald Trump.”
