President Joe Biden today signed into law the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill that includes funding for schools, state and local governments, vaccine distribution, additional enforcement funding for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and extended unemployment insurance, as well as other items. In response the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“The American Rescue Plan provides much-needed relief to the millions of Americans that remain unemployed, to essential workers fighting to stay safe on the job, and to the communities struggling to keep their citizens safe. This package puts our nation on track to beating the COVID-19 pandemic and will position us to rebuild once the immediate crisis has passed. This much-needed funding for schools and state and local governments and funds to help expand and sustain our public health workforce will fill unfortunate gaps left by previous relief efforts.
