BlueGreen Alliance Applauds Senators for Putting a Spotlight on Climate Change Challenges, Opportunities
This evening, members of the U.S. Senate will speak all night urging Congress to wake up and face the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change.
WASHINGTON, DC (March 10, 2014) – This evening, members of the U.S. Senate will speak all night urging Congress to wake up and face the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster:
“For too long, calls for climate action from the president and millions of people across the country have gone unanswered. Today that changes. We applaud the Senate Climate Action Task Force, headed by Sens. Whitehouse, Boxer and Schatz, and the other senators who are joining them for drawing attention to an issue that hasn’t been given enough serious consideration by Congress over the past few months.
“America isn’t prepared for the impacts of climate change, but we can be. To create good jobs, reduce pollution, and ensure America’s competitiveness globally, we need to face the threat of climate change head on. We hope that the attention these lawmakers are bringing to this issue, will be the start of a long and productive discussion that yields the real results Americans deserve.”
