Gov. Jared Polis is expected to sign SB22-051, Policies To Reduce Emissions From Built Environment. The bill establishes a tax incentive for the installation of heat pumps in buildings and includes provisions requiring that certified contractors complete larger-scale projects. Long Bay Lease Sale Illustrates Continued Growth in Offshore Wind Industry

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) yesterday convened a lease auction covering more than 110,000 acres in the Carolina Long Bay area. The sale totaled more than $300 million. The leases could enable development of an estimated 1.3 gigawatts of offshore wind energy.

The Virginia 2020 Clean Energy Economy Act requires that offshore wind energy projects maximize local economic benefits and prioritize jobs for historically disadvantaged workers and Virginia residents. The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) must certify that the CVOW project will deliver such benefits, and is now accepting written comments.
