Alcoa talks about the importance of the BlueGreen Alliance and building a clean economy in the United States.

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown joined the BlueGreen Alliance today to discuss policy recommendations made in a new report aimed at creating hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs through development of a clean energy economy in the United States.

Building on a June 2009 report highlighting the number of jobs that could be created as a result of a 25 percent by 2025 Renewable Electricity Standard, the BlueGreen Alliance made a set of policy recommendations aimed at maximizing manufacturing jobs.

Led by Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, and the BlueGreen Alliance, the Mayors’ Green Manufacturing Initiative is working to make the two cities the center of green manufacturing.

“Municipal Solid Waste Reclamation Trends: A Local and National Perspective” examines national and local trends for recycling and composting and what tools and resources are needed to attract and grow jobs in those areas.
