The Virginia 2020 Clean Energy Economy Act requires that offshore wind energy projects maximize local economic benefits and prioritize jobs for historically disadvantaged workers and Virginia residents. The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) must certify that the CVOW project will deliver such benefits, and is now accepting written comments. Verbal Comments will be received by phone beginning at 10 a.m. on May 16.

You may not know them by name but each one was loved and deserves to be remembered. And their loss serves as a reminder of the day’s full slogan: “Remember the Dead: Fight for the Living.”

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced the results of the New York Bight offshore wind sale. The auctioned area included six lease areas totaling over 488,000 acres and drew competitive winning bids from six companies totaling approximately $4.37 billion. This is a huge deal.

The time to act is now. The bipartisan infrastructure bill—called the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)—is the start, not the end, of what we need to build back better. Congress must act boldly and invest the full $3.5 trillion in the Senate Build Back Better budget resolution to build a clean, thriving, and equitable economy.
