Buy Clean Buy Fair Bill Signed by Gov. Walz Will Support Good Jobs, Reduce Pollution
The BlueGreen Alliance today celebrated the Buy Clean Buy Fair Minnesota Act becoming law. The components of the bill were included two omnibus bills signed by Gov. Tim Walz. The new law establishes an Environmental Standards and Procurement Task Force to help the state navigate how to procure materials for infrastructure products made in a cleaner, more efficient, environmentally-friendly manner to reduce pollution and the negative health impacts, while supporting good jobs across our nation.
Following the signing of the law, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Minnesota Policy Organizer Abby Hornberger:
“We thank Sen. Erin Murphy and Rep. Kaela Berg, the chief authors of this critical legislation, and Chairs Nick Frentz and Patty Acomb for their work to deliver the funding needed. We also thank Gov. Walz for his continued leadership to grow good jobs, while protecting the environment.
“Buy Clean is a policy the BlueGreen Alliance and our partners pioneered and we’re thrilled to see it become law in our state. It will help guarantee that products and materials that are used for public projects like infrastructure improvements are the cleanest and most sustainable available. Buy Clean and Buy Fair make sure the companies doing things the right way are rewarded for reducing emissions and lifting up workers’ rights. It’s a win for our environment, a win for workers, and a win for local and domestic manufacturers.”
