Trump’s Job Slump Hits Main Street in Latest Report
August 1, 2025
In July, employers added only 73,000 jobs to the U.S. economy, lower than expectations. Last year, an average of 168,000 jobs per month were added to the U.S. economy.
The BLS report also found that announcements from the last two months greatly overcounted the number of jobs created—by a total of nearly 260,000.
Following the release, the BlueGreen Alliance issued a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“The numbers are in, and the U.S. job market is in a Trump slump. President Trump is harming our country. His policies—attacking clean energy and manufacturing, gutting the federal workforce, and his cruel immigration crackdown—have thrown the job market and the economy into chaos.”
