Revolution Wind Achieves First Power, Supplies Affordable Energy to New England Grid
Revolution Wind announced that their offshore wind farm off the coast of New England achieved first power and started delivering power to the grid.
Revolution Wind is a fully-permitted 704-megawatt wind project that will power more than 350,000 homes. The project is 93% complete and is being built by more than 1,000 union workers.
Once complete, the wind farm will provide power at a fixed price through 20-year agreements with utilities in Rhode Island and Connecticut, ensuring more affordable electricity for consumers.
Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“Revolution Wind achieved an incredible feat and started delivering power to communities in New England. Even in the face of the Trump administration’s ridiculous opposition, this project prevailed and we can now start to realize its potential to provide affordable power. Offshore wind is a massive opportunity to create good, union jobs around the country, meet the growing energy demand, and cut electricity prices for households and businesses. Congratulations to the Revolution Wind and to the over 1,000 union workers that built this project—this is truly incredible.”
