Attack on US Wind Permit is Latest Move in Trump’s Vendetta Against Offshore Wind
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared last week that the permit for the US Wind project off the shore of Ocean City, MD is invalid.
In a note to the Maryland Department of the Environment, the EPA cited what it determined to be problematic or “erroneous” procedural aspects of the state’s air quality permit.
Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance issued a statement from Executive Vice President of Strategy and Impact Eric Steen:
“Trump’s vendetta against wind isn’t just idiotic, it’s harmful for the country. This is just another poorly veiled attempt by the Trump administration to derail our domestic offshore wind industry. Offshore wind has massive potential to provide good union jobs and affordable, clean, renewable energy for the country. We should be investing in offshore wind, not delaying projects and killing jobs.”
