BlueGreen Alliance Endorses John Fetterman

October 17, 2022

The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, announced today that the organization has endorsed Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

The endorsement is a recognition that Lt. Gov. Fetterman is a leader in the efforts to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change.

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman said, “I am honored to have the support of the Blue Green Alliance in this race. Over the course of my career, I have been vocal in my support for balancing good-paying union jobs with a cleaner, healthier environment. I have consistently supported transitioning to a clean economy, working with the BlueGreen Alliance, the Environmental Defense Fund, and the United Steelworkers Union as far back as 2009, as part of a campaign to pass climate legislation in conjunction with organized labor. Republicans need to get real about climate change, and Democrats need to get real about our energy needs. This idea that we have to choose between jobs and a clean environment is wrong, and I’ll always fight for both.”

“The BlueGreen Alliance is proud to endorse Lt. Gov. Fetterman for Congress,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment; we can and must have both. He is a champion for building a clean, prosperous, and equitable future and is the best choice in the race for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.”

“We are excited to work alongside Lt. Gov. Fetterman in this election and beyond,” said Walsh.

This is the first year that the BlueGreen Alliance is endorsing candidates for Congress. Previously, the organization endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States in 2020—the first such endorsement in the organization’s history.
