The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, today announced the organization has endorsed Lauren Underwood for the 14th Congressional District in Illinois.
“I am grateful to the BlueGreen Alliance for their endorsement and their commitment to supporting leaders devoted to creating a stronger, more equitable and cleaner economy for America,” said Congresswoman Underwood. “I’m honored to earn the support of their members and I look forward to working together to bring about bold, sustainable job creating solutions for the hard-working people of Illinois.”
The endorsement is a recognition of the leadership of Congresswoman Underwood to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change. Congresswoman Underwood voted for several key priorities, including the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“The BlueGreen Alliance is proud to endorse Congresswoman Underwood for Congress,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment; we can and must have both. Congresswoman Underwood is a champion for building a clean, prosperous, and equitable future and is the best choice in the race for the 14th Congressional District in Illinois.”
“We are excited to work alongside Congresswoman Underwood in this election and beyond,” said Walsh.
This is the first year that the BlueGreen Alliance is endorsing candidates for Congress. Previously, the organization endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States in 2020—the first such endorsement in the organization’s history.
