Energy Bills Relief Act Will Lower Energy Prices for America
Members of Congress have put forward the Energy Bills Relief Act, a package of proposals focused on lowering household energy costs, improving grid reliability, and strengthening America’s domestic clean energy buildout.
Working people in the United States are experiencing higher energy bills, extreme weather, and an unstable electric grid. The Energy Bills Relief Act would reduce household costs while investing in infrastructure to deliver reliable, clean power, particularly through domestic investments in building transmission lines and improving interregional planning of the grid.
Following the release of the bill, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“Billionaires don’t have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. If policy is poorly designed, working people often do. Energy affordability must be front and center and go hand in hand with rebuilding the grid and accelerating responsible clean energy deployment. The BlueGreen Alliance also welcomes efforts to reverse the Trump administration’s disastrous cuts to clean energy that have increased costs for families across the country.
“And that progress must come with strong labor standards. Affordability and reliability can’t come at the expense of job quality. If public dollars and incentives are on the table, companies must be held accountable and workers cannot be left behind. Union neutrality, prevailing wage, registered apprenticeships, and project labor agreements must be part of the deal to create good-paying, union jobs and real community benefits. We look forward to continuing to work together on this bill.”
