New Data Shows Trump’s OSHA Performs 20% Fewer Inspections

February 19, 2026

New data released by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren shows that the Trump Administration’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) performed 20% fewer inspections during a six-month period compared to the same period in 2024. Additionally, the data shows 42% fewer fines issued for severe workplace violations. The decline in OSHA enforcement and oversight raises concern for the potential of serious injuries and deaths on the job.

Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“OSHA’s decreased inspections are indicative of Trump’s relentless attack on workers. This data makes one thing clear: Trump is unequivocally valuing the profits of companies over the lives and safety of workers. Inspections and penalties hold bad actors accountable. Dodging this responsibility puts lives at risk and workers in danger.”
