The BlueGreen Alliance Endorses a New Vision for Trade that Centers Working Families

May 14, 2026

The BlueGreen Alliance today joined Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-3), other members of Congress, and labor and environmental groups to introduce the Fair Trade for Working Families Resolution.

This resolution envisions a trade policy that addresses decades of offshoring jobs, artificially suppressed wages, undermining medium and small size businesses, and lax environmental regulation on foreign countries. The new policy takes a worker-centered approach to trade and prioritizes strong labor, wage, and climate standards that put working people, their communities, and our environment above large corporate interests.

Following the event, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“With USMCA under review, it is critical that we implement trade policies that promote prosperity for everyone, across all sectors of society— not just corporations and a few ultrawealthy elites.

“We are proud to endorse this ‘Democratic Vision for Trade Policy’ that puts working people first and outlines a model for trade that would deliver livable wages, healthy communities, clean air and water, and thriving economies. We thank Rep. DeLauro and the cosponsors of this resolution for calling out trade policies that exploit workers and the environment to line the pockets of shareholders and CEOs.”
