WASHINGTON, DC (March 7, 2014) – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics unveiled the February employment situation, showing the economy added 175,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate is now 6.7 percent. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster:

“Over the past few months, growth has been less than what it would be if Congress hadn’t been stuck in a stalemate. There’s still work to be done to grow the economy and work still to do to repair our infrastructure—the basic systems we rely on everyday to get us to and from work, supply our power, keep us safe from floods and much more—and spur growth in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

“We can’t afford to ignore the potential of fixing these systems. We need to double down and invest in our infrastructure—for the sake of our economy and the environment. Repair America combines all of the best that we’re capable of doing. As the president said last week, roads and bridges are not a partisan issue and neither should be putting pro-growth policies to work across America.”
