(November 8, 2011) After a historic victory to sustain the rights of working people in Ohio with the defeat of Issue 2, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director David Foster:

“This is a proud day for the people of Ohio and the rest of the country. The defeat of Issue 2, and the repudiation of Senate Bill 5, is a historic victory for the rights of working people to collectively bargain. This backwards law was rejected by the people of Ohio because a strong middle class is essential to the success of this nation, and because it will do nothing to face the biggest crisis facing our country now: jobs.

“Now it’s time to turn our focus to creating good jobs that ensure the United States leads the 21st century economy. We hope that leaders in Ohio — and the rest of our nation — move forward with an agenda to spur economic growth and create good jobs, while protecting rights of working people.”
