Trio of Bad Bills Won’t Create Jobs

According to Dave Foster, "Today’s passage of the REINS Act completes a trifecta of bills that seek only to harm our environment, health and safety while creating no jobs."

December 7, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 7, 2011) After the passage of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act (H.R. 10) today, and the recent passage of the Regulatory Accountability Act (RAA) (H.R. 3010) and the Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act (RFIA) (H.R. 527), the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director David Foster:

“Today’s passage of the REINS Act completes a trifecta of bills that seek only to harm our environment, health and safety while creating no jobs. As our country continues to struggle to get back on its feet —with over 13 million Americans unemployed and millions more underemployed or worried about the future of their job — the House continues to take no action to actually get America’s economy going again. Instead, they voted to weaken health, safety, workplace and environmental protections.

“These bills were nothing more than a distraction from the real issue: Congress isn’t working to help create good, American jobs.”
