Labor-Environmental Partnership’s Jobs21 Plan Will Create and Maintain Millions of Good Jobs in America

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 15, 2011) President Obama traveled to Cannon Falls, Minnesota to discuss the state of the economy with families and small business owners today.

The BlueGreen Alliance today released a comprehensive plan that responds to the critical nationwide need for a job-creation strategy. The plan — Jobs21!: A BlueGreen Alliance Blueprint to Solve the Jobs Crisis — can solve America’s jobs crisis by focusing on the jobs and industries of the 21st century, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, manufacturing, transportation infrastructure, recycling, green chemistry, broadband Internet, and smart grid technologies.

Jobs21! National Co-Chair Tarryl Clark offered the following statement:

“Getting Minnesotans — and the more than 14 million unemployed Americans — working again and keeping good paying jobs must be our top priority as a state and a nation. Families are struggling to make ends meet, and many worry that their job will be the next on the chopping block. We can maintain and create millions of good jobs by supporting the Jobs21! plan.

“The Jobs21! plan can ensure that America stays in the driver’s seat of the global economy. It can revitalize our economy and create millions of good jobs that will help to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and ensure that we leave a better America both economically and environmentally for future generations.”
