Thom Kay is the Senior Federal Policy Manager for AI Policy at the BlueGreen Alliance. In that role, he works to develop AI policy that maximizes the public benefits of AI for working people and the environment, and mitigates its negative impacts on workers, communities, and the climate.
Thom has over a 15 years of experience working on federal advocacy campaigns. He was most recently the Campaigns Manager for the BlueGreen Alliance, a role in which he coordinated the alliance’s efforts on economic recovery and infrastructure investments and to eventually pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Prior to joining the BlueGreen Alliance, he was the Legislative Director for Appalachian Voices, where he focused on economic development in coal communities and coal waste pollution issues.
He has a BA in Philosophy from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, and lives with his family in Chapel Hill, NC.
