Comments of the BlueGreen Alliance on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Reforming and Modernizing the Radiation Protection Framework (Docket NRC-2025-1140)
On May 23, 2025 President Trump issued an Executive Order “Ordering the Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.” That order, like these proposed amendments by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), are based on the false assumption that making nuclear power more available must be based on making nuclear power less safe for workers inside and communities outside nuclear facilities.Since the last major revisions to the NRC standards in 1991, strong scientific evidence supports strengthening those rules instead of weakening them.
