Building Clean: Improving Efficiency, Health, and Equity in Housing and Creating Good Jobs

When buildings are designed, built, and maintained to protect the health of people and the environment—and if the manufacturing of building products and materials create good-paying union jobs in the U.S.—then the wellbeing of people and communities will improve, especially for people of color. Building Clean works to increase the use of building products that are more efficient, less toxic, and manufactured in the U.S. We aim to improve the physical, environmental, and economic health of communities and promote a more equitable future for all.

Solidarity for Climate Action: The Plan We Need to Get American Manufacturing Back on Track

Manufacturing towns dot the nation, and advanced manufacturing helps provide the foundation for the economy in major regions of the United States. Industries like the steel and automotive industries supported good-paying jobs, middle-class families, and prosperous communities for decades, while also spurring American leadership in innovation and technology. That’s still true in some areas. But in many others, factories have closed or new industries offer jobs that all too often are poorly paid, insecure, or unsafe.

BlueGreen Alliance Announces Endorsements in 44 Congressional Races

The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, announced today that the organization has endorsed 44 candidates in U.S. House and Senate races across the country. The endorsement is a recognition that the incumbents and challengers are leaders in the efforts to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce pollution that harms communities and workers as well as drives climate change.

Mayors from Around MN Tour Union Training Facility, Discuss How Federal Investments Can Drive Good Jobs, Racial Equity, and Climate Action

Mayors from around the state joined labor, environmental, and civic leaders for a tour focused on maximizing the impact of investments in two new federal laws—the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act for all Minnesotans. The tour of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) Training Center in Little Canada highlighted how the union is helping workers gain the skills they need for jobs rebuilding and modernizing infrastructure and improving the energy efficiency of homes and businesses.

BlueGreen Alliance Applauds California’s Bold Offshore Wind Goals that Will Expand the Clean Energy Market and Meet Growing Demand

This past week, the California Energy Commission (CEC) released a report establishing offshore wind goals. Newly adopted goals plan for 3,000-5,000 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind energy by 2030 and increase that projection to 25,000 MW by 2045. The report estimates that this will be enough electricity to power up to 25 million homes.
