The United Nations released its 2026 Emissions Gap Report today and found that pollution in the United States grew very rapidly in 2025 compared to other major economies.  

This comes as no shock as the Trump administration continues to attack the cleanest, cheapest forms of energy generation—like wind and solar. At the same time, U.S. energy prices rose by 5.2% in September and are up 20.4% for the entire year. 

Following the release of the report, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh: 

“Thanks to Trump’s leadership—and a GOP Congress more than willing to bend over backwards for him—the United States is pumping out an embarrassing amount of pollution while our federal government remains fully committed in its refusal to build the cleanest, cheapest forms of energy. This vendetta has humiliated us on the international stage and hurts working people, who are paying more thanks to Trump and the GOP.”
