As Clean Energy Sectors Grow, Work Remains to Support Workers’ Rights

June 28, 2022

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today released the annual United States Energy and Employment Report (USEER). The report noted job growth in the renewable energy sector—particularly in the solar (5.4%) and wind (2.9%) industries. Additionally, jobs in  electric and hybrid vehicles grew by 25%.

In response to the release of the report, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“The USEER 2022 report shows clean energy sectors continue to grow, creating jobs across the country. It is crucial that we do all that our nation can to ensure that the growth of these sectors continues and that the jobs created are good, union jobs. That is why it is so important that Congress pass a strong budget reconciliation bill with robust investments in clean energy, targeted to communities that need it most—including energy transition communities—and strong labor and domestic content standards. The Biden administration has made the creation of good, union jobs a core focus of their work to fight climate change but, if we are to build a clean economy that works for all, congressional action is vital.”
