Trump Administration Tries Again after Failed Attempts to Halt Offshore Wind Permit

October 21, 2026

The Trump administration filed another request for a federal judge to remand the permit for New England Wind.

This follows additional attempts to revoke permits for other offshore wind projects along the east coast, including US Wind; SouthCoast Wind; Atlantic Shores—which was successfully remanded in August; and Revolution Wind—which is nearly complete. The Trump administration failed late last year to stop these projects when the courts allowed the projects to continue construction.

Following news of the court filing, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“It’s lunacy to stop cheap, clean energy generation at a time when electricity prices are squeezing working people. But the Trump administration cares more about winning this senseless fight against a promising energy source than helping us power our communities. Offshore wind is already providing reliable energy and creating thousands of jobs around the country—the administration needs to stop attacking this once-in-a-generation opportunity.”
