The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, today announced the organization has endorsed Paul Tonko for New York’s 20th Congressional District.
“Our nation must meet the moment to lead on a green environment, green jobs, and a green economy. If more of our leaders understood that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a bright future, we can harness the untapped potential of a green America. I am thrilled to receive an endorsement from the BlueGreen Alliance, and I am proud to stand with them in this fight to help America lead once again,” said Tonko.
The endorsement is a recognition of the leadership of Rep. Tonko to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change. Rep. Tonko voted for several key priorities, including the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“The BlueGreen Alliance is proud to endorse Rep. Tonko for Congress,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment; we can and must have both. He is a champion for building a clean, prosperous, and equitable future and is the best choice in the race for New York’s 20th Congressional District.”
“We are excited to work alongside Rep. Tonko in this election and beyond,” said Walsh.
This is the first year that the BlueGreen Alliance is endorsing candidates for Congress. Previously, the organization endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States in 2020—the first such endorsement in the organization’s history.
