Building Clean: Improving Efficiency, Health, and Equity in Housing and Creating Good Jobs

When buildings are designed, built, and maintained to protect the health of people and the environment—and if the manufacturing of building products and materials create good-paying union jobs in the U.S.—then the wellbeing of people and communities will improve, especially for people of color. Building Clean works to increase the use of building products that are more efficient, less toxic, and manufactured in the U.S. We aim to improve the physical, environmental, and economic health of communities and promote a more equitable future for all.

Solidarity for Climate Action: The Plan We Need to Get American Manufacturing Back on Track

Manufacturing towns dot the nation, and advanced manufacturing helps provide the foundation for the economy in major regions of the United States. Industries like the steel and automotive industries supported good-paying jobs, middle-class families, and prosperous communities for decades, while also spurring American leadership in innovation and technology. That’s still true in some areas. But in many others, factories have closed or new industries offer jobs that all too often are poorly paid, insecure, or unsafe.

Trump Admininistration’s Latest Bad Move Will Roll Back Efforts to Fight Climate Change, Grow Clean Energy and Clean Manufacturing

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a proposed rule that would roll back the 2009 “Endangerment Finding.” The finding is the main federal tool for regulating greenhouse gases, like methane and carbon dioxide. It applies to every sector that emits greenhouse gases, including power plants, cars, landfills, and oil and gas operations.

Ohio Policy Experts Speak Out Against Dangerous Cuts to Clean Energy Investment, Manufacturing Job Growth, Public Schools, Health Care

Senate Budget Proposal Drastically Rolls Back Manufacturing Tax Credits, Slashes Funding for Clean Energy and Jobs

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee released its proposed text for the Congressional budget bill, completing the Senate’s version of the GOP reconciliation package. This final title claws back grant funding helping us transition to a clean energy economy and in large part upholds a rollback of clean energy and advanced manufacturing tax credits passed by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Trump Administration Claws Back Industrial Demonstrations Funding, Risking Jobs and Undermining US Manufacturing

The Trump administration’s U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today that it would cancel more than $3.7 billion in funding for cutting edge manufacturing projects across the country. Many of the defunded projects were in Republican districts that voted heavily for President Donald Trump. China announced earlier this year that it is funding 100 industrial demonstration projects to produce similar decarbonization technologies.
